The Patio Project!

Ever since we had the shop finished (well…finished to the extent that it is now) we have wanted to pour a concrete patio to join the two existing slabs.  All winter and all Spring we have had a mudhole that could house three large hippos residing inbetween the house and the shop.  Lets just say that it has been less than pleasant.

So for the last month, the hubby and I have been waiting.  And waiting.  And waaaaiting for the rain to stop.  After almost ten inches of rain in the month of May, (a new record) June finally brought us a bit of sunshine!

This last week we spent every evening hour forming up for the pour.  With the wind at our backs and the hubbys hard work and expertise – we were ready on Saturday morning for Fisher to show up with the concrete.

Thankfully a friend of ours who does concrete work helped us with the finishing.  Without his help, there is NO WAY it would have turned out as well as it did.  If you ever need some concrete work done, get a hold of me and I will pass along his number.  🙂

So now, we have a beautiful concrete patio running between our home and our second home – the shop.  It couldn’t have turned out any better if you ask me!  And truly – I can’t imagine all the memories that are going to be made on just a few slabs of concrete.  Lots of laughs, lots of skinned knees, and I’m sure – way too many beers being spilled.

Ahhh….A Day in the Life!

Ready for the concrete to show up!

We couldn’t have asked for better weather.  It was absolutely goregous out!

Torq.  Always gotta have the dogs on the jobsite!  (This is seriously one of the greatest dogs I have ever known.  LOVE him!)

Thank God we have amazing friends and neighbors that let us borrow big equipment!  I would NOT have wanted to wheelbarrow this crap!

Guys waiting for the concrete to come out of the chute.

Kiddo cheesin’ in the wheelbarrow!

Oh yeah baby.  Mamma even had her boots on.  🙂

DONE!

And DONE!

AND DONE! 🙂
