Merry Christmas!

From my family to yours – I hope that you have an amazing Christmas!

The hidden gift in the Christmas tree…

I bought myself a gift.  Yeah, that’s right.

When you have a husband that works god-awful hours, you have to assume that he’s not going to have time to buy any gifts for Christmas.  Therefore, you buy gifts, wrap them, and add his name to the tag – all with love of course.

Thing is, I decided I would hide this one.  In the tree…

I can’t wait to open it!  Any guesses on what it could be?  🙂

Ahhh…A Day in The Life….

Johnny Depp

This man absolutely fascinates me.

Not only is he undeinably handsome – but he seems as if he is truly outside of the “movie star” world.  I bought the latest issue of Vanity Fair the *moment* I saw his face on the cover, and even though the magazine will eventually find its way into my trash can, I am thankful to have had the chance to learn more about him.  Not in the stalker – I’m obsessed with him – kind of way…but in the sense that I truly admire him.  I admire his spirit and how he carries himself throughout this thing we call life.

Still though, I have to admit – if I ever had the opportunity to meet him, I would probably melt like a bowl full of jello in the hot Summer sun.  Hell with Ryan Reynolds – Johnny Depp is STILL the sexiest man alive to me.  🙂

Put…the icing…down…

You know…it really is amazing that I can accomplish anything in any one days time.  What would take a normal human being an hour to do – takes me four hours.

So this morning, I was contemplating making Christmas cookies.  It began as everything does in my little world – oh the ideas!  I could do this…that…

Then, I decided…maybe I didn’t want to try and make Christmas cookies.  The mess alone was going to take me an hour to clean up, I knew that much.

So I went onto other things.

I addressed a load of Christmas cards and took them to the post office.

While joking with my awesome post man Ron, sugar plums actually danced in my head as I thought, “Hmm…maybe I should make Christmas coookies this year.  The hubby will love it…the kiddo will love them…I could even give a few as gifts…”

So instead of heading home after my trip to the post office, I went to the store for all the fixings.

Four hours later…I am blogging about my Christmas cookies.

Oh, they might look halfway decent alright – they better for the amount of hell they put me through.  Between the kiddo playing in the dog’s water dish, then picking up the dog’s food and shaking it across the floor, to him *somehow* finding AAA batteries and walking around with them in his mouth, to climbing up on the kitchen table in search of the dog’s water that I put out of his reach, to grabbing a sugar cookie off the counter and seeing what happens if he sqeezed it as ^tight^ as he possibly could…I AM SPENT.

All this…and the icing.

UGH, THE ICING.

I went to the stereo to adjust the music playing (I wasn’t feeling Kenny G on his tenor sax any longer) and as I made my way back to the kitchen I see that my child has a green icing tube in his hand.

He’s looking at me.

I’m looking at him and slowly making my way, as to approach him lightly and whistfully…

“Put…the icing…down…”

He grins.  And…he proceeds to squeeze the icing tube as hard as he possibly can.  I would have taken pictures of this, but you have to realize…I did NOT want my camera anywhere near this massive mess that now sprawled from my kitchen to my dining room and then into the living room.  BRIGHT GREEN ICING.

UGH.

So.  When you see these pictures, know that there is much more going on in the story.  “Oh…pretty and yummy cookies there Ash!”

Yeah, they better be pretty!  Anyone want to shampoo my couches for me?

Ahhh…A Day in The Life…

I’m getting excited…

I’ve officially only got three months left in my pregnancy.

WOW.  This has gone by seriously fast.

So as I made a trip to Hobby Lobby this morning (just for buttons…I SWEAR) I decided I would pick out the yarn for my little gal’s baby blanket.

Soooo incredibly yummy!  (And soft too…)

I have a few patterns in mind for this color combination but haven’t completely nailed it down yet.  Can’t wait to get started though!

Done…Wrapping Presents!

O. My. Word.

I am so thankful to be done wrapping presents…you have no idea.

First of all, you have to realize something.  I LOVE to wrap presents…really, I do!!  Its just that by the time I’ve wrapped 30 of them, I start to tire and my creative skills go absolutely kaput.

We have a big family between the hubby and I, so it may seem like its a little out of hand…when really, everyone only gets a few small gifts.  But wrapping those gifts…that’s where all the love comes in.  🙂

I bust out the ribbon, I make it into those beautiful little “curly q” thingys.

I find a tag that coordinates perfectly with the wrapping paper, bow, and tissue paper inside the package…and then find a fine Sharpie to scrawl the reciepient’s name on it.

No newspaper wrapping in this house!  (Though I love to recieve packages wrapped in newspaper!  I just prefer a different style to those leaving the compound here… 😉 )

So…I am done.  DONE.

It feels sooooooo good.  🙂

(Recipe Share) Taco Dip!

My Mom gave me a recipe for Taco Dip when I first got married to the hubby.  Over the years I have tweaked it just a bit, which is why I don’t have a problem sharing this recipe with my readers.  (I won’t EVER share family recipes on here, just so you know!  Those are too sacred for the internet world!)

This has always been a hit at parties – and it is soooo simple to make!  If you make it and are planning on bringing it to a get-together, make it in a disposable pan of some sort.  (2 pie pans or an 11×13)  That way if there are still people munching on it when you’re ready to leave, you’re not having to stick around and wait for your pan or glassware!

[Taco Dip]
1 can refried beans
1 large carton sour cream
1 packet taco seasoning
Lettuce
Shredded Cheddar
Tomato
1 can sliced black olives

Layer the above ingredients in the following manner:

Refried beans
Sour Cream (mixed with taco seasoning)
Lettuce
Cheddar Cheese
Tomato
Black Olives

THAT’S IT!

“The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” Release!

I feel like I did when *Nsync came out with a new CD, or when JTT (Johnathan Taylor Thomas, for all you youngins out there) made his grand appearance down the stairs on “Home Improvement” every week.

Eclipse just released today.  **My Heart Flutters**

First of all, I am Team Edward fully and completely.  (I will refrain from stating my opinion of Jacob, for I don’t want to lose any blog readers over it.)

Second of all…I NEVER imagined I would be *into* vampire lore.  EVER.  When I first was told by my friend Stef to read the Twilight books – I practically scoffed at her.  “Dude…(I recall saying)…I’m not into Vampires.”  I am sure she said something along the lines of, “You’ll love it…give it a chance…” or at least something to that extent.  I finally caved in when my friend Beth offered to let me borrow the first and second books.  (After all, she’s a mother with three kids – one of them almost in his teens.  If *she* likes them, then there must be something to them!)

To say it plainly, I read the entire series within four days.  It’s all I did.  It consumed me.

Now, I attend the midnight releases of the films.  Stef and I get together at Asian Nights casino for an evening of drinks (sometimes dancing) – and walk into a theater packed with tweens and teens always asking, “Do you know you smell like alcohol?”  It’s hilarious!  As if we’re not well over the legal drinking age…  (*NOTICE* – you never get out of these films until about 3:00-3:15 in the morning, just enough time to sober up after a good time with a girlfriend – no judgements please!!)

SOOOOOOOO…to make a long story, well…longer – Eclipse is now in my posession.

Do you think I can convince the hubby to stay awake long enough to watch the entire movie tonight?  Hmmm…we’ll see…
